The Armenian government has decided to redistribute 1.1 billion drams for the implementation of several projects along the North-South corridor during a meeting on Thursday.
According to the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, the decision proposes an internal redistribution of 1.1 billion drams to finance necessary contractual and other obligations for various sections of the North-South corridor.
In particular, the funds will be directed towards the payment of 5% of the final cost of construction works, payment for technical supervision services, compensation to landowners recognized as having priority significance for state needs, covering program management expenses, restoring the interstate M6 road, reconstructing the Pushkin tunnel, constructing a new Dilijan tunnel, and paying for design works.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the construction of the Kajaran-Agarak road section and the Kajaran tunnel is progressing very well.
About the North-South Corridor
The North-South transport corridor crosses the territory of Armenia along the route Meghri-Kapan-Goris-Yerevan-Ashtarak-Gyumri-Bavra, connecting to the Georgian road from the south, leading to the ports of Poti and Batumi (on the Black Sea) and further to Russia, the CIS countries, and the European Union. The implementation of this comprehensive project will improve transport communication between Europe, the Caucasus, and Asia in the zone connecting Western Asia and Eastern Europe.
