Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission Extends License for 'Razdan-5' Power Unit

The license has been extended until August 13, 2027

YEREVAN, August 5. /ARKA/. Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) has extended the license of Gazprom Armenia for the production of thermal energy at the Razdan-5 power unit until August 13, 2027.

The corresponding decision was unanimously adopted at the commission's meeting held on August 5.

Gazprom Armenia's application was reviewed by the commission's specialized departments in accordance with established procedures. No objections were received, and therefore the decision was unanimously approved.

The Razdan-5 power unit is located in the town of Razdan in the Kotayk region and is operated by Gazprom Armenia (part of the Gazprom group) under a license for thermal energy production.

The company acquired the assets of the unfinished unit in 2006, after which it completed its construction and modernization. The unique feature of the facility is the combination of gas turbine and steam turbine technologies, meaning it operates on a combined cycle. The power unit was connected to Armenia's energy system in January 2012. Its installed capacity is 467 MW. According to Gazprom Armenia, since its launch, the facility has produced about 9.7 billion kWh of electricity.
