Armenian Finance Minister Explains Basis for Authorities' 50% Agricultural Production Growth Forecast

Vage Ovanisyan noted that the forecast is based on previously completed work

YEREVAN, August 29. /ARKA/. Armenian Finance Minister Vage Ovanisyan stated that the authorities' forecast of a 50% growth in agricultural production is based on previously completed work.

He cited investments in the field of intensive agriculture as an example, noting that the authorities subsidized part of these investments.

"Thousands of hectares of intensive orchards have been created in Armenia, which, by the way, exceeds the target indicators set by our strategy. Soon, all these facilities will start yielding crops, and this gives us hope that we can set such a goal," he said in an interview with Shant TV.

According to the report by Armstat on Armenia's GDP indicators for the second quarter, the agricultural, forestry, and fishing sectors showed the largest decline: this segment shrank by 15.3% year-on-year (its share in GDP is 6.6%).
