Ministers of Environment of Armenia and Korea Discuss Opportunities for Expanding Cooperation

Discussions on the development of environmental cooperation between Armenia and Korea

The Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, Hambardzum Matevosyan, and the Minister of Climate, Energy, and Environment of the Republic of Korea, Kim Sung-hwan, discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in environmental protection, climate change, water resource management, and biodiversity conservation between Armenia and Korea.

During the meeting, Minister Matevosyan presented Armenia's priorities, emphasizing that effective management of water resources, the development of flood forecasting and early warning systems, integrated river basin management, and ecosystem restoration are particularly important for Armenia in the context of climate change.

He also expressed interest in learning about the experience of the Republic of Korea in applying artificial intelligence and digital technologies for flood forecasting, water resource management, and enhancing climate resilience.

The ministers agreed that the exchange of experience and professional cooperation in these areas could make a significant contribution to the development of Armenia's capabilities.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Matevosyan thanked the Republic of Korea for its active engagement in the Convention on Biological Diversity and invited high-level participation in the upcoming COP17 to be held in Yerevan.
