During his working visit to the Republic of Korea, Armenia's Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan met with Korea's Minister of Forests Lim Sang-sop:
"We discussed opportunities for forest conservation and restoration, sustainable management of forest ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, increasing the resilience of forests to climate change, as well as expanding scientific and technological cooperation," the minister noted:
"Korea has one of the most successful examples of forest restoration, and I am confident that this experience can be of great importance for Armenia as well, in expanding forest cover, restoring degraded areas, and implementing modern monitoring systems," he added:
During the meeting, modern mechanisms for preventing and responding to forest fires, the use of artificial intelligence, satellite observations, and drones in forest management were also discussed:
"I emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences and deepening professional cooperation in these areas," Matevosyan noted:
"I expect active participation from Korea in COP17, as the preservation and restoration of forest ecosystems is a key direction for achieving the global goals of the Kunming-Montreal biodiversity framework," he concluded:
