There is mutual understanding on the TRIP project between Armenia and Iran

Sargis Khandanian noted that the construction of the railway is not dependent on Iran-US relations

Sargis Khandanian, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction in the Armenian parliament, stated that there is mutual understanding regarding the TRIP project between Armenia and Iran. He made this remark during a press briefing with journalists in the National Assembly.

"There is mutual understanding on the TRIP project between Armenia and Iran, and I do not think anyone should be concerned that the tense relations between Iran and the USA could affect the implementation of this project," Khandanian said.

According to him, Armenia's interest is to establish peace in the region as quickly as possible.

"Regarding Iran-US relations, of course, our interest is to establish peace as quickly as possible, and we were greatly encouraged by the negotiations and agreements that took place a few months ago between Iran and the United States, and it seems a peace plan was formed. Let us hope that this plan will be realized," Khandanian noted.

Addressing the issue of railway construction within the framework of TRIP in the context of tense relations between the USA and Iran, Khandanian emphasized that the construction of the railway is not dependent on Iran-US relations.

"The railway issue is on the agenda. Currently, the terrain is being studied for its feasibility, and once the studies and technical inspections are completed, construction will begin. I see no political obstacles here," Khandanian said.
