YEREVAN, August 25. /ARKA/. The total investment portfolio of commercial banks in Armenia at the end of June 2026 amounted to 1,933,341,220 thousand drams, decreasing by 202.38 billion drams, or 9.48% since the beginning of the year. This is according to data from the ARKA agency's bulletin "Indicators of Banking Activity in Armenia. Q2 2026".
In the second quarter alone, the banks' investment portfolio decreased by 280.76 billion drams, or 12.68%.
The main part of the portfolio — 1.26 trillion drams, or 65.17% — consisted of investments held to maturity.
The volume of investments intended for sale reached 624.15 billion drams, accounting for 32.28%. Financial investments for commercial purposes amounted to 38.72 billion drams, or 2% of the total portfolio, while investments in the equity capital of controlled entities accounted for 10.51 billion drams, or 0.54%.
The largest investment portfolio at the end of June was recorded at Ardshinbank — 306.45 billion drams. However, since the beginning of the year, this figure has decreased by 29.86%, and in the second quarter — by 40.4%.
In second place by size of investment portfolio was AMIO Bank with a figure of 259.92 billion drams, which increased by 7.2% since the beginning of the year, but decreased by 4.6% over the quarter. Following are Ameriabank — 210.07 billion drams (decline since the beginning of the year – 17.26%, for the quarter 0.84%), Inecobank — 175.1 billion drams (decline since the beginning of the year – 4.55%, for the quarter – 6.64%) and Armswissbank — 172.08 billion drams (decline since the beginning of the year – 9.75%, for the quarter – 4.38%).
Meanwhile, the largest growth in the investment portfolio in the second quarter was demonstrated by Fast Bank — up 70.53%, to 38.76 billion drams. ArmEconomBank's figure rose by 5.51%, to 103.16 billion drams, while Unibank's rose by 5.39%, to 26.43 billion drams.
Since the beginning of the year, the most significant growth was recorded at Byblos Bank Armenia — 37.64%, Fast Bank — 37.51% and ArmEconomBank — 15.4%.
The most noticeable decrease in the investment portfolio since the beginning of the year was noted at Ardshinbank — 29.86%, Conversbank — 20.16%, Ameriabank — 17.26%, Evocabank — 14.37% and IDBank — 13.85%.
As of June 30, 2026, there were 17 commercial banks operating in Armenia. The average size of the investment portfolio of one bank was 113.73 billion drams.
