The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the new EU Partnership Mission in Armenia, organized a round table attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan, the Commander and Managing Director of Civil Operations of the EU External Action Service, Stefano Tomat, as well as the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Vasilis Maraghos, and the head of the EU Partnership Mission in Armenia, Cosmin Dinescu.
The event was dedicated to the decision of the EU Council to establish the EU Partnership Mission in Armenia.
“The establishment of the EU Partnership Mission in Armenia opens a new and important chapter in the partnership between Armenia and the European Union. Through this mission, the EU confirms its commitment to supporting the resilience and institutional capacity of Armenia in the face of constantly changing challenges,” the Armenian MFA's statement said.
Representatives of civil society, academic circles, and experts participated in the event, where the EU Partnership Mission in Armenia was presented as a partner supporting Armenia's resilience.
There was also an exchange of views on strengthening Armenia's resilience to emerging threats, particularly cyber threats, manipulation and interference of foreign information, as well as illegal financial flows.
The Armenian MFA also reported that the EU Partnership Mission in Armenia is a civilian advisory mission within the framework of the EU Common Security and Defense Policy. The mission was established on April 21 of this year and began its work on July 13.
The EU Partnership Mission in Armenia was created at the request of the Armenian government. The mission is part of a broader and more comprehensive EU approach that combines short-term and long-term support for Armenia's resilience.
“The mission does not have an executive mandate. It does not play any role in the decision-making processes of the Armenian authorities,” the Armenian MFA's statement said.
