Armenia has developed at the expense of the EAEU, says Russian Foreign Ministry

Statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements that a referendum on Armenia's accession to the EU can only be discussed after the country submits an application and prepares a "roadmap" indicate his "not so high confidence" in his own people, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with RBC TV.

"In my opinion, this does not speak of great confidence in Armenian voters or the Armenian people," Lavrov noted.

According to him, fair elections are necessary.

"What are you choosing between, how are you living now, when trade turnover over the last three years has amounted to more than six billion, and in one year - 12 billion? Overall, Armenia has developed at the expense of the EAEU," Lavrov added.
