Armenia to Receive Electricity from Azerbaijan

Vahe Davtyan Comments on the Impact of the TRIPP Project

Vahe Davtyan notes that Aliyev's statement about Azerbaijani specialists studying the possibility of installing new power transmission lines in Armenia fits entirely within the logic of the venture called TRIPP.

He emphasizes that this initiative is an adventure exclusively for Armenia, while Azerbaijan's interests are clear — a route to Nakhchivan, diversification of gas supplies, and so on.

Davtyan also points out that Armenia's main source of energy is the nuclear power plant, which is not under the control of the Armenian side, but in reality, the Armenian NPP is fully under Armenian management.

Aliyev's attacks on the Armenian NPP and promises to supply electricity to Armenia through TRIPP should be viewed in a political context.

Davtyan stresses that the future structure of Armenia's energy system should be determined in Yerevan, not in Baku.
