Armenia receives extra quota for 5,000 electric vehicles

Statement from Armenia's Economy Minister

By a decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council, Armenia has received an additional quota for the preferential import of 5,000 electric vehicles in 2026, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said in a Facebook post.

“By a decision of the EEC Council, Armenia has received an additional quota of 5,000 electric vehicles in 2026, with the possibility of importing them at a 0% customs duty rate.

Information on the procedure for distributing the additional quota of 5,000 units and other details will be published shortly,” he wrote.

Armenia’s State Revenue Committee has published the remaining tariff concession quota, as of and including August 6, 2026, for motor vehicles with electric motors classified under Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature codes 8703 80 000 3 and 8703 80 000 5, which are eligible for a zero-percent import customs duty rate.

For dealer-distributors, 1,255 units remain under the quota, meaning 58% has been used. For entities that are not dealer-distributors, 655 units remain, while 95% of their quota has already been used.
