YEREVAN, August 27. /ARKA/. Armenia plans to start exporting fresh fruits and vegetables to the UAE from September, with a volume of up to 40 tons per week. The relevant Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Thursday.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and the founder and CEO of Watermelon Ecosystem, Omar Mohammad Hamdan Abdullah Alshamsi, discussed the possibilities of implementing joint investment projects, expanding the export of Armenian products, as well as establishing contacts between Armenian producers and buyers and distributors in the UAE and other international markets.
Alshamsi presented the activities of Watermelon Ecosystem, which brings together restaurants, food suppliers, producers, and farmers, offering digital solutions for procurement and supply chain management.
Papoyan presented the investments made in recent years in Armenia's agricultural sector, as well as production capacities that meet international standards, emphasizing the importance of expanding access for small and medium producers to international markets.
