Armenia and ADB discuss new cooperation projects

The sides focused on infrastructure, water resources and budget support programmes.

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan and Lyazziza Sabirova, Director of the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) resident mission in Armenia, discussed new areas of cooperation and infrastructure projects, according to the Armenian government’s press service.

The two sides reviewed in detail the progress of programmes being implemented jointly with ADB, as well as possible avenues for further cooperation.

Khachatryan praised the existing partnership with ADB, saying it is aligned with the priorities and target indicators set out in the government’s programme.

The discussion covered water resource management, infrastructure development, improving the seismic safety of schools, and ongoing as well as planned policy-based budget support programmes.

Looking ahead, particular attention was given to the need to study effective public-private partnership formats and the possibilities for applying them.

ADB’s cooperation with Armenia

According to the government, from 2005 to October 2025 ADB provided Armenia with more than $2 billion in total assistance, making it one of the country’s largest multilateral development partners.

That support includes projects in transport, energy, water supply and urban infrastructure. In the private sector, ADB backs utilities and infrastructure, financial institutions and agribusiness.
