Armenia's export volumes could decrease by 25-27% if the country exits the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was stated by Anton Sviridenko, the executive director of the P.A. Stolypin Institute for Economic Growth:
He noted that if Armenia loses the opportunity for free trade with the EAEU, it will also lose a significant resource such as the free movement of labor. “Armenian citizens will likely need to obtain work permits to work here, rather than being able to work in any country without additional permits as they currently do in the EAEU,” he explained:
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously stated that Armenia will soon begin the process of applying for EU membership.
