Agreement Signed on Export Program

Armenia plans to export up to 40 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables to the UAE weekly. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.

The agreement on the supplies was formalized in a memorandum signed on August 27 by the Minister of Economy of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan and the founder and CEO of Watermelon Ecosystem, Omar Mohammed Hamdan Alshamsi.

Omar Alshamsi presented the activities of the Watermelon Ecosystem platform, based in the UAE, which connects restaurants, food suppliers, producers, and farmers, offering digital solutions for procurement and supply chain management.

During the meeting, opportunities for implementing cooperation and investment programs, expanding export opportunities for Armenian products, and establishing contacts between Armenian producers, buyers, and distributors in the UAE and other international markets were discussed.

Gevorg Papoyan highlighted the investments made in Armenia's agricultural sector in recent years and the production capacities that meet international standards, emphasizing the importance of expanding access to international markets, especially for small and medium-sized producers.

At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the parties, which will create opportunities for organizing long-term and sustainable exports of fresh fruits and vegetables from Armenia.
