The government plans to approve the document and send it to parliament for ratification.

The Armenian government is set to approve an agreement on military-technical cooperation between Armenia and Poland at its September 11 meeting and send it to parliament for ratification. The draft decision has been included in the cabinet’s agenda.

According to the explanatory note, ratifying the document is expected to broaden the bilateral cooperation agenda and lay the groundwork for closer ties between the two countries’ defense ministries. The note says the agreement establishes the main principles and procedures for cooperation in the military-technical sphere on the basis of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.

The agreement also sets out the areas and formats of military-technical cooperation, as well as rules for protecting confidential information. The full text of the document has not been made public.

The report says the foundations of cooperation between the defense agencies of Armenia and Poland date back to 2004. The military-technical cooperation agreement itself was signed in February this year.

Since September 7, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Edward Asryan has been in Poland. The delegation led by him has taken part in a demonstration exercise, attended the international arms exhibition in Kielce, and held meetings with representatives of defense industry companies.

In late August, the Armenian government also decided that the country would have a military attaché in Poland starting in January. The attaché’s duties are to include representative work, establishing and deepening official contacts with the military agencies of the two countries, developing military relations, and monitoring cooperation programs.

Earlier, in May, Armenia’s defense minister visited Warsaw, where he met his Polish counterpart and stressed the importance of implementing military-technical cooperation in practice.
