YEREVAN, August 14. /ARKA/. The possibility of implementing joint investment programs in various segments of agriculture was proposed by Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan during a meeting with Iran's Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad Akbar Fathi.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, during the meeting held within the framework of the 7th meeting of the Council on Agro-Industrial Policy of the EAEU in Almaty, Papoyan noted that there is great potential for cooperation between Armenia and Iran in agriculture, especially in the areas of crop production, livestock, agricultural product processing, greenhouse development, and cold storage infrastructure.
“Armenia is interested in expanding its presence in the Iranian market of competitive fruits and vegetables, processed products, dried fruits, and other food products, as well as in developing supplies of quality Iranian products to the Armenian market,” said Papoyan.
In the context of current climate challenges, the minister also emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences in efficient and water-saving irrigation systems, digitization of agriculture, and increasing productivity.
According to Armstat, the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in the first half of 2026 amounted to $371.4 million, an increase of 8.4%. Exports amounted to $42.8 million (a decrease of 6%), while imports reached $336.9 million (an increase of 12%).
