Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Egypt’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Amal Afifi on the occasion of Egypt’s national holiday, Revolution Day. Khachaturyan congratulated the ambassador and the friendly people of Egypt and asked her to convey his congratulations to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
During the conversation, the sides discussed the close cooperation established between Armenia and Egypt in the political, economic, cultural, tourism and other sectors. They emphasized the importance of further expanding existing cooperation and developing it in new areas.
“Throughout the millennia-long history of our two peoples, we have not had a historical chapter in which there were problems between the peoples of our two countries, and this is highly valuable. It is valuable because, since independence, we have continued the best traditions. Our government and authorities are interested in deepening, strengthening, and developing relations with Egypt,” the president said.
Ambassador Amal Afifi, in turn, thanked President Khachaturyan for the reception and congratulations.
Particular attention was paid to the existing potential for cooperation in high technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The sides noted that exchanging knowledge and experience in these areas could provide a foundation for implementing joint innovative projects and developing new technological solutions. In this context, they also took into account the opening of an Artificial Intelligence Factory in Armenia several days earlier.
The sides also emphasized the importance of further deepening relations in education and science. They stressed the need to expand scientific and educational programs and increase opportunities for exchanges of students, young professionals and scientists.
The effective cooperation established between Armenia and Egypt on international platforms was highly appreciated. It was noted that cooperation based on mutual trust plays a significant role both in advancing the interests of the two countries and in the continued development of bilateral relations.
The participants also stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits. Such visits provide additional impetus to political dialogue and contribute to the further expansion of economic, business, cultural and tourism ties.
The discussion also addressed COP17, to be held in Armenia in October. President Khachaturyan emphasized the expectation of high-level Egyptian participation, noting that the conference could create additional opportunities to further deepen Armenia-Egypt cooperation on the climate agenda, sustainable development, green technologies and innovation.
