Criminal Organization Caused 1 Billion Dram Damage to the State

The investigation has concluded and charges have been filed against 10 individuals

The investigation by the Special Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee has concluded regarding a criminal organization that caused damage to the state amounting to 1 billion 213 million 26 thousand drams through the use of forged documents and the forgery of vehicle identification elements, circumventing customs procedures for taxable objects imported into Armenia.

According to the RA Investigative Committee, it has been established that H.V., A.M., S.Sh., L.E., and B.K. created a criminal organization and recruited A.M., H.G., A.D., S.A., and H.S. as its members to illegally import and sell vehicles into Armenia while bypassing the legally established customs procedures from the Republic of Georgia.

During the years 2018-2020, based on forged powers of attorney allegedly issued by citizens of Kazakhstan who purchased vehicles in Armenia, the group members submitted forged applications to the registration-examination divisions of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs during various days in 2023-2025.

Subsequently, the members of the criminal organization purchased vehicles corresponding to the brands indicated in the registration certificates and removed the identification numbers of the vehicles in the neutral zones of the Georgian-Armenian and Georgian-Russian state borders.

The criminal case has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with an accusatory conclusion.
