Residents of the village of Jrarbi in the Armavir region have blocked the Echmiadzin-Margara road, demanding that representatives of the HEC management come to meet with them.
"All the belongings of half the village's population have burned down; we have contacted the electricity network in Echmiadzin, and they say, come and write a statement. How can so many people reach Echmiadzin? All the equipment has burned, there was a problem at their substation, the electricity was cut off, the air conditioner, washing machine, television, solar station. Everything has burned down, smoke has come out," said one of the residents, David, in an interview with Panorama.am.
Due to the problem at the substation, part of the village was disconnected from electricity around 15:10. At that moment, some residents saw smoke coming from the equipment. The residents demand that HEC employees come to the village, inventory the damaged equipment, and then compensate for the damages.
"Compensation must definitely be made; I have an air conditioner that I installed ten days ago, what should I do now?" said David.
He is currently unable to say how much damage he has suffered and will only be able to compile a list of burned and damaged equipment after the electricity supply is restored.
"They are still trying to fix the problem, to turn on the light. One resident's washing machine has burned out, and someone saw smoke coming from the air conditioners," noted the affected resident.
The residents said they would keep the road closed until representatives from HEC come to meet with them and inventory the damages.
