On July 13, the authorities of Kyrgyzstan imposed a complete ban on the export of fuel outside the republic. This information comes from a decision published on the government website.
The decision was made to prevent a shortage of petroleum products and to ensure stable supplies in the domestic market.
The ban applies even to countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). An exception has been made only for fuel contained in standard fuel tanks of motor vehicles. Additionally, the authorities have lifted the ban on fuel imports by road transport (which had been in place since 2019).
On June 29, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Adilbek Kasyimov, demanded that a fuel deficit not be allowed to arise in the country, emphasizing that this is a key issue for the stable functioning of the entire economy.
On July 2, Kyrgyzstan requested to ensure stable fuel supplies in the country due to concerns about a potential deficit. The republic has also reached out to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan for assistance with gasoline supplies.
