The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, visited the Artashat Canning Factory today to monitor the tomato collection process on-site. The visit was also attended by the governor of the Ararat region, Sedrak Tevonyan, and the mayor of Artashat, Karlen Mkrtchyan.
Accompanied by the factory's general director, Vachagan Karapetyan, the minister toured the company, familiarized himself with the production processes, and observed the collection activities. The factory assured the minister that they are ready to collect as many tomatoes as the residents will offer. The collection price has been set at 40-80 drams.
“This year we will not have any issues with tomato collection. We will continue to monitor the collection process daily,” noted Minister Gevorg Papoyan.
The tomato collection process in the republic started on August 3 of this year. So far, 4700 tons of tomatoes have been collected, with the largest volume of 1800 tons collected by the Artashat Canning Factory.
The Artashat Canning Factory is one of the largest companies in Armenia's food industry. It is a continuously developing and expanding company, currently capable of producing 40 million cans annually, with increasing production volumes each year.
