Germany’s automobile club has reported a new all-time high for diesel prices in the country.
On Thursday morning, the average price of one litre of diesel at filling stations across Germany stood at 2.453 euros. That was above the previous record of 2.446 euros, which had been set on April 7.
A day earlier, prices for budget E10 gasoline also reached a historic high. This fuel grade contains up to 10% bioethanol.
The latest rise in fuel prices has been driven by escalating tensions in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait area, adding pressure not only to the German market but to fuel prices across Europe more broadly.
