Court extends Gagik Beglaryan detention by two months

Former Yerevan Mayor remains in custody amid corruption charges

Former Yerevan Mayor and former Transport and Communications Minister Gagik Beglaryan will remain in custody for another two months. The Prosecutor General’s Office disclosed the decision, according to Sputnik Armenia.

The detention order was issued by Anti-Corruption Court Judge Tigran Davtyan. Beglaryan is being held at a National Security Service detention facility.

In July, the pretrial investigation body filed a motion with the court, and Anti-Corruption Court Judge Aram Grigoryan extended Beglaryan’s detention by two months.

Beglaryan is accused of abuse of official authority and money laundering on an especially large scale. In 2025, Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office filed a lawsuit with the Anti-Corruption Court seeking to recover 76.8 million drams from Beglaryan. The court granted the claim in full.
