Gagik Bagunts: Under pressure from the authorities of Armenia, it is impossible to organize new elections in the Artsakh parliament

The Artsakh parliament continues to operate in a crisis environment

The Artsakh parliament continues to operate in a crisis environment, which arose after the resignation of the chairman of the National Assembly. This was stated by the acting chairman of the National Assembly of Artsakh, Gagik Bagunts, during a solemn event at the NKR representation in Yerevan, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of independence:

"We continue to bear responsibility for voicing the voice of the forcibly displaced people of Artsakh, in the name of protecting our collective right. Given the unprecedentedly difficult conditions, the occupation of all the territory of Artsakh by Azerbaijan and its de-Armenization, the pressure exerted by the authorities of Armenia, and the absence of resources and tools for state governance, we do not consider it possible to organize new and fair elections at this stage," said Bagunts.

He reiterated that the parliament will continue to operate in its current composition, and electoral processes will be organized under favorable conditions.

It should be noted that on July 2, 2026, the chairman of the National Assembly of Artsakh, Ashot Danielyan, who also held presidential functions, announced his decision to resign.
