Ford announced that it will be increasing production of its Lincoln vehicles in the U.S. starting in 2030.
The company also stated that it will phase out imports of vehicles from China for the U.S. market, which it claims will further strengthen Ford's position as America's number one auto producer.
Ford expects the increased production to generate "thousands of direct and indirect U.S. jobs."
"Lincoln is a quintessentially American brand, and Ford is America's automaker," said CEO Jim Farley in a statement. "This wasn't necessarily the easiest path. In fact, it's a path most of our competitors aren't choosing to take. But Ford builds in America because we believe in America, and we're betting on that belief again."
The announcement comes as Ford has been emphasizing its U.S. manufacturing, especially with President Donald Trump's automotive tariffs and uncertainty surrounding the USMCA North American trade deal.
