Firebird AI officially launched its ambitious megaproject — the largest artificial intelligence (AI) factory in the region — on August 8 in Armenia. The launch of the megacenter, located near Hrazdan, marks the start of the company's global AI platform, positioning Armenia as a strategic center for AI computing power.
Firebird also announced that NVIDIA intends to invest in the company following earlier investments made by CoreWeave this year. Capital investments will help Firebird expand its global infrastructure and operational presence, as well as create the largest and most advanced computing clusters in emerging markets.
“AI factories are the infrastructure that countries need to create knowledge, drive economic growth, and remain competitive in the AI era,” said NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang. “We are building infrastructure with Firebird in Armenia and Kazakhstan that will provide researchers, startups, and industries with the computational foundation needed to develop AI locally, attract innovators from around the world, and participate in the global AI economy,” Huang added.
Investments in the first already launched phase of the megaproject exceed $500 million. By the end of 2027, the factory's capacity will expand to over 70,000 NVIDIA Blackwell and Vera Rubin GPUs. The AI infrastructure capacity within the project will reach 300 MW, making it one of the largest AI infrastructure platforms in Europe and one of the most significant AI computing centers in the world.
The factory, built on the NVIDIA DSX platform and connected to the NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet network system, was designed to enhance the economic efficiency of AI infrastructures: it allows for the installation of up to 40 percent more GPUs in the same area and maximizes the efficiency of each megawatt.
The company's expansion strategy goes beyond Armenia's borders. Kazakhstan has become the second market where Firebird will provide 125 MW of AI infrastructure capacity in the “Data Center Valley,” having obtained the necessary approvals from the Kazakhstan government as well as an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). At the same time, through ongoing projects in several other developing markets, the company aims to increase its AI infrastructure capacity to 2 GW by the end of 2028, creating one of the fastest-growing AI infrastructure networks in the world.

Firebird AI co-founder Alexander Esayan noted that six months ago there was just a construction site, and today the largest AI factory in the region is operational, serving as the foundation for one of the most ambitious AI infrastructure projects in Europe.

Firebird also announced that one of its first clients will be Perplexity. The company will utilize Firebird's high-performance AI infrastructure to support its answer-seeking system and AI-powered digital partner platform. This collaboration is an important step in attracting leading AI-focused companies to Armenia and strengthening the further development of the country's technology and startup ecosystem.
The construction of the AI factory was carried out in accordance with international environmental and energy standards of the highest level. The AI factory can contribute to a more sustainable operation of Armenia's energy system. The cooling system is built on a closed-loop principle, meaning that water is not consumed during current operations and does not leak into the environment.
In the first phase, around 100 specialists will work at the Firebird AI factory, and upon full implementation of the project, more than 300 high-skilled jobs are expected to be created in Armenia. The factory's computing capacities are designed to serve both local and international users. At the same time, part of the computing capacities is intended for the development of Armenia's ecosystem. They will be available to local startups, universities, research centers, and scientific-educational initiatives, including within the framework of programs funded by the Armenian government.
The economic efficiency of the project is already reflected in official statistics: in the list of major taxpayers for the first half of 2026, Firebird AI has appeared for the first time, having paid 823 million drams in taxes to the state budget.
