The Russian Foreign Ministry has stated that the Armenian leadership is being blackmailed over the railway issue. The ministry noted that the Armenian side's statements regarding the transfer of the Russian concession of the 'South Caucasus Railway' are viewed as blackmail by Western capitals.
'The Armenian side demands the removal of the 'Russian factor' in the transport sector, while promising multimillion-dollar investments in return,' the ministry said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also pointed out that Yerevan's arguments claiming that the Russian concession hinders Armenia from becoming a participant in logistics initiatives do not correspond to reality.
