Railways are Armenia's property and must serve the interests of the Republic: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the management of railways

It is impossible to revise the approach to the management of the Armenian Railways, but on the other hand, what we have announced, we do not intend to revise either.

This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press briefing after the government meeting, responding to a question regarding developments in the management of the Armenian Railways.

“We have started processes aimed at restoring the railway in the sections of Gyumri-Akhurik and Yeraskh, and we will carry out these works. Regarding the remaining sections, we will continue working discussions, including with our Russian partners, and our positions have not changed and will not change for objective reasons, because we cannot just observe how international railways can come, enter Armenia and, upon entering Armenia, bypass Armenia. Such a thing cannot be,” he noted.

Will Armenia take management for restoration, the Prime Minister said: “Let’s state that this is our railway. This is the property of the Republic of Armenia, and we must manage our property. I cannot say details, because, including as a result of legal consultations and working discussions, these issues must be resolved. But I can say one thing that in all processes, the Armenian Railway is involved, they are aware of what is happening.

I can decisively say one thing that the railways are the property of Armenia and must serve the interests of the Republic of Armenia. There can be no other way. Other options are excluded. We can all proceed from this starting point; we cannot say it is our railway, but nothing, let it remain in a dead end,” he added.
