In Yerevan, the activities of an alleged cybercriminal group have been thwarted (VIDEO)

In the framework of the fight against cybercrime in Yerevan

YEREVAN, August 14. News-Armenia. Employees of the Cybercrime Department of the Criminal Police of Armenia, together with the Investigative Committee, have thwarted the activities of an alleged criminal group that, according to the police, was involved in the theft of large quantities of cargo.

According to the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, during a sudden search conducted on July 23 in a commercial premises of one of the hotels in Yerevan, information significant for the preliminary investigation was discovered and seized.

According to law enforcement, the group members, using special computer equipment and software, posed as employees of companies engaged in cargo transportation in the USA, gained the trust of foreign economic entities, and redirected cargo to other locations.

Subsequently, the stolen property was allegedly sold, and the proceeds were transferred to the accounts of the members of the alleged criminal organization and converted into various crypto-assets.

A criminal case has been initiated on this fact.

Employees of the Armenian Criminal Police, together with law enforcement agencies in the USA, continue activities to establish additional circumstances of the scheme, identify other possible groups with similar activities in Armenia, as well as victims and companies.

A suspect or accused in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court ruling that has entered into legal force, in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia.
