The preliminary investigation of the criminal case conducted by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has established that from September 3, 2023, Edik Minasyan, the head of the Armenian History Department at Yerevan State University, used his official powers to receive a bribe.
"In particular, the investigation revealed that he demanded $5000 from a relative of a citizen, using his influence over the admissions committee to ensure the latter's unobstructed admission to Yerevan State University, and later, as a result of bargaining, accepted a bribe of $4000," the statement said.
During the investigation, the head of the department was charged with accepting a bribe in a large amount. A house arrest was applied as a preventive measure against him. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed.
The materials of the case have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia with an accusatory conclusion," the statement said.
