Edik Minasyan, the chair of Yerevan State University, demanded a large bribe to facilitate a citizen's admission process to the university. This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
The preliminary investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Committee established that from September 3, 2023, the individual occupying the position of chair of the Armenian History Department at Yerevan State University used his official powers to receive a bribe.
Specifically, the investigation revealed that he demanded a bribe of $5,000 from a relative of the citizen to ensure the latter's admission to the university without obstacles, later negotiating it down to $4,000.
During the investigation, the chair was charged with receiving a bribe in a large amount. He has been placed under house arrest as a measure of restraint.
The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the case materials have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia with an accusatory conclusion.
