The European Investment Bank will support Armenia in preparing a road safety and digitalisation programme. At its September 11 meeting, the Armenian government approved the signing of the relevant agreement between the EIB and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia.
According to the justification for the decision, discussions held in 2025 led to an agreement on preparing a road safety and digitalisation programme in Armenia, as well as cooperation on implementing a road network safety assessment system.
Under the agreement, the EIB will, as part of its technical assistance, conduct the procurement of advisory services and sign the relevant consultancy contract to support the implementation of the road safety and digitalisation project.
The consultant’s work will focus on improving road safety management, developing road safety audit systems, and creating mechanisms for managing high-accident-risk sections of the road network.
The advisory support will also include general recommendations on the technical process for project development, assistance in mobilising financing, support in procurement procedures and contract management for consultancy services, review of documents and reports submitted by the selected consultants with comments on them, and the development of methodological guidelines for specific aspects of project preparation.
The government said the agreement does not create any property or financial obligations for Armenia, because the consultancy services contract will be signed by the EIB and the payments предусмотренные by that contract will be made by the bank.
