The EU will implement the trade agreement signed with the United States starting July 1, 2026.
According to a statement from the European Council, a 15% tariff will be applied to all European goods in the US, while US products will face a zero tariff within the EU.
"The European Union has completed the approval process for the trade agreement with the US. It will come into effect on July 1," stated the EU Council.
Additionally, the agreement stipulates that by 2028, the EU will purchase $750 billion worth of energy resources from the United States.
Previously, US President Donald Trump demanded that the EU implement the agreement by July 4, threatening to impose new tariffs on the EU otherwise.
