Arman Yeghoyan, an MP from the National Assembly’s Civil Contract faction, commenting on Azerbaijani claims equating TRIPP with the “Zangezur Corridor,” said that no infrastructure bearing such a term exists in Armenia.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has again spoken about the “Zangezur Corridor,” calling it a long-standing dream.
Yeghoyan said there are signed documents, statements and even draft agreements, none of which contain the phrase “Zangezur Corridor,” Aysor.am reported.
“There is no such thing. At the level of political discourse, many people can say many things. We also say that no infrastructure bearing such a term exists in Armenia. There is the TRIPP project, which also bears the signatures of the presidents of Azerbaijan and the U.S., and the Armenian prime minister,” he said.
Yeghoyan added that unblocking transport routes is beneficial to all three sides.
In an Aug. 11 interview, Aliyev said the creation of the “Zangezur Corridor” was Azerbaijan’s initiative and that connecting Azerbaijan’s main territory with its inseparable part, Nakhchivan, was a long-standing dream.
“We were moving confidently and very skillfully toward that goal, and now we have come close to achieving it,” he said.
