President Donald Trump defends business dealings, his children in exclusive interview with CNBC

Trump discusses his family's business and the impact of economic policy

U.S. President Donald Trump defended his family's business dealings in an interview with CNBC's Joe Kernen, stating that the presidency is so powerful that almost anything his children do could be viewed as a conflict of interest.

"If they buy an energy-efficient truck, they have inside information," Trump said, arguing that his children face unusually broad scrutiny.

The comments followed the release of Trump's 2025 annual financial disclosure report, revealing he earned over $580 million from cryptocurrency-related ventures, including $515 million from sales linked to World Liberty Financial.

Trump asserted there was nothing illegal about his crypto ventures and emphasized that federal conflict-of-interest laws do not require the president or vice president to recuse themselves from decisions affecting their financial interests.

He also touched on various topics including the economy, markets, Iran, the Federal Reserve, and the 2026 midterm elections.
