Donald Trump Accuses Canada of Causing $60 Billion Annual Damage to the US Economy

Trump promises to end trade issues with Canada

Donald Trump stated that over the past 10 years, the US has lost an average of about $60 billion annually due to trade relations with Canada and promised to put an end to this practice.

On Truth Social, Trump also noted that Canada imposes tariffs of 400% or more on American farmers and has harmed the positions of several American companies. He also criticized Canadian policies regarding the certification of Gulfstream aircraft.

Trump denied reports that he opposed the use of French during negotiations with Ottawa, attributing that claim to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Last week, US Trade Representative Jamison Greer stated that Canada rejected the bilateral agreement proposed by Washington. Following this, the US recently imposed a 50% tariff on certain goods imported from Canada, and Carney announced upcoming retaliatory measures.

Trump also announced that the US would soon impose a 50% tariff on Canadian cars, auto parts, and steel.
