Court orders recovery of funds from former Tatev mayor

Court has decided to recover 4.454 million drams from the former Tatev mayor

On July 30, 2026, the Anti-Corruption Court granted a lawsuit filed by the Syunik Regional Prosecutor’s Office against Murad Simonyan, former head of the Tatev community in Syunik Province:

Once the judgment enters into legal force, 4.454 million drams will be recovered from Murad Simonyan as compensation for damage caused to the state. Interest accrued on the 4.454 million drams will also be recovered:

Acting within its authority to protect state and municipal interests, the Syunik Regional Prosecutor’s Office examined evidence obtained during criminal proceedings. According to that evidence, former Tatev community head Murad Simonyan provided a municipally owned excavator to a limited liability company between 2018 and 2020 and embezzled 4.454 million drams out of 13.6 million drams generated from its operation:

On March 31, 2026, the Syunik Regional Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit with the Anti-Corruption Court seeking to recover from Murad Simonyan the amount of damage caused to the Tatev community:
