Four employees of Gazprom Armenia CJSC and one official from Armenia’s Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety Inspectorate have been detained. Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee reported the arrests.
“They were detained as part of criminal proceedings initiated by Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee. The proceedings concern cases of bribes allegedly paid to obtain favorable assessments while overlooking violations committed during the gas supply process in newly constructed buildings,” the committee said.
Four of those detained were remanded in custody as a preventive measure, while one was placed under house arrest.
