On July 14, in New York, within the framework of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered a speech at a related event titled "Bridging Science, Policy, and Practice to Address the Global Triple Crisis: Strengthening Synergies for Achieving the SDGs and a Sustainable Future Beyond 2030".
In his speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the need for a connected approach to address the issues of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. In this context, he highlighted the importance of the joint statement on synergies signed by the current and upcoming presidencies of the Rio Conventions in Belem.
Abisoghomonyan stated that COP17 could contribute to further strengthening this political commitment and expanding international support. He stressed the importance of an inclusive approach at the national level and ensuring the full involvement of all stakeholders.
The efforts of the Armenian government in this direction were presented to the attendees. The Deputy Foreign Minister also reaffirmed Armenia's readiness to cooperate with all partners in strengthening synergies and ensuring a sustainable future, including as the upcoming presiding country of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).
