China’s Refinery Runs Crash to Pandemic Lows as Crude Imports Collapse

China's refinery throughput dropped by 17.7%

China’s refinery runs saw a sharp decline in June, crashing to pandemic lows from 2020 due to supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and weakening domestic fuel demand.

Chinese refinery throughput slumped by 17.7% year-on-year to just 12.47 million barrels per day (bpd) in June, marking the lowest processing volume in six years.

China’s crude oil imports also hit a decade-low in June, further impacting refiners' processing volumes.
