China has urged the United States and Iran to restore safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz. The spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Zhan, emphasized during a press briefing that restoring normal and safe navigation through the strait is a common aspiration of the international community. He added that Beijing will continue to make unremitting efforts to de-escalate the situation.
This call comes against the backdrop of the U.S. re-establishing a maritime blockade against Iran following attacks on so-called "unauthorized" vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
