The board of the Armenian Film Producers Federation (FAHF), expressing its unconditional support for national benefactor, businessman, and art patron Gagik Tsarukyan, who has become a target of the authorities' abuses, is authorized to announce the following: since 2025, FAHF has been conducting an informational campaign about the statue of Jesus Christ being built by Gagik Tsarukyan, which has already generated significant international interest. The main goal of this campaign is to present Armenia as a new and attractive location for international film crews.
Within the framework of the program, thanks to agreements reached in Cannes in May 2026, FAHF will present the statue of Jesus Christ and filming locations in Armenia at several major industrial platforms by the end of the year, including the Venice Film Festival, the Valladolid filming location market, and the Tallinn industrial platform.
FAHF warns that the continuation of repressions against Gagik Tsarukyan and the possible halt of the statue of Jesus Christ's construction will negatively impact Armenia's image as a country attractive for the film industry. We will have to present our country to international partners as a stage for political retribution against opponents of the government, which jeopardizes our projects and causes irreparable harm to our long-standing efforts to bring international film crews to Armenia.
The FAHF board condemns the illegal actions of the Armenian authorities against Gagik Tsarukyan, urges the opposition political forces in Armenia to adhere to the imperative of unity and mutual support, and calls on Armenian civil society and citizens not to contribute to the complete eradication of dissent and the establishment of tyranny in the country through passive compliance.
