Japan to Continue Supporting Armenia in Disaster Risk Management

The Director of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received the permanent representative of JICA in Georgia

On August 4, the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia, Aram Ghazaryan, received the permanent representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Georgia, Masahiro Ueki, and the program coordinator of JICA in Armenia, Ruzan Khozhikyan. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Aram Ghazaryan emphasized the importance of effective cooperation with JICA, noting that the programs implemented with the agency's support have made a significant contribution to the technical re-equipment of the ministry's rescue service, the development of personnel's professional skills, and the improvement of the disaster risk management system.

Masahiro Ueki, the permanent representative of JICA in Georgia, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted with satisfaction that the Armenian side highly appreciates Japan's long-standing experience in disaster risk management. The parties discussed issues related to the technical equipping of the rescue service, the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, as well as other matters of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their readiness to continue joint initiatives in targeted areas and strengthen their partnership.
