Over 400 million drams in overpayments formed in universities: 67 million drams returned to beneficiaries

The State Control Service revealed information about overpayments

The State Control Service has revealed that in 18 state higher education institutions, from 2023 to August 2026, approximately 400 million drams in overpayments were formed due to payments and compensations received from around 4,500 students who completed their studies, were expelled, or were released.

The overpayments mainly arose from excess payments made by students, as well as compensations for tuition fees from the state and various organizations. At the service's suggestion, universities are taking measures to return the funds to citizens and organizations that compensated tuition fees. As a result, as of August 2026, approximately 600 students and various organizations have received back around 67 million drams.

Monitoring activities continue to uncover similar cases in other universities and return the funds to the actual beneficiaries.
