Bruno Colman on His Visit to Armenia

Bruno Colman reflects on the lessons learned during his visit.

Bruno Colman, known for his economic and financial analyses, recently visited Armenia at the initiative of the Armenia-Belgium Chamber of Commerce (BACC). This visit provided him with the opportunity to discover a country about which he previously had a relatively limited understanding of its history and modern realities.

Upon returning to Belgium, the former executive director of the Brussels stock exchange, university lecturer, and one of the most influential representatives of Belgian economic thought published a widely discussed article titled "Armenia: The Strength of a Borderland Country," where he speaks about the resilience of the Armenian people, the depth of historical experience, and national identity.

However, beyond the financial, monetary, and geopolitical themes for which he is known, the Brussels correspondent for Armenpress wanted to continue the conversation on a more personal level. In this interview, Bruno Colman shares his feelings during his visit, the meetings that impressed him, the discovery of Armenian spiritual heritage, and the human lessons he has drawn from a country he describes as "romantic" in the deepest and most sincere sense of the word.

From visiting the Geghard Monastery to reflections on the resilience of a people forged by historical trials, Bruno Colman presents an honest and sometimes self-critical perspective on Armenia — an experience that led him to a simple yet important conclusion: "Armenia taught me the urgency of being happy."
