Binance survey shows crypto in Armenia is used most for transfers and payments

Most respondents expect digital assets to gain broader adoption in Armenia over the next few years.

A survey of Binance users in Armenia suggests that cryptoassets in the country are increasingly being used not only for investment, but also for everyday financial needs. The most common use cases are international transfers, payments and savings, while durable trust in the market is still taking shape.

The study was conducted in August and September 2026 and included more than 100 respondents from different regions of Armenia. According to the findings, 77.1% said interest in cryptocurrencies in Armenia has increased, with 22.9% describing that growth as significant. Another 57.3% said they have become more active users of cryptocurrencies over the past two years.

Main use cases

When respondents were allowed to select multiple answers, the leading uses were international transfers at 56.3% and investments and trading at 55.2%. These were followed by building savings at 45.8% and paying for goods and services at 42.7%.

Less common but still notable uses include staking and DeFi at 18.8%, as well as using crypto as protection against inflation at 19.8%. When asked to identify just one primary purpose, international transfers again ranked first at 33.3%, followed by payments at 24% and investments at 22.9%.

In personal finances, cryptocurrencies most often serve as an additional source of income for 34.4% of respondents, while for 18.8% they have already become a main source of funds.

Perceptions and barriers

Among respondents, 27.1% primarily associate cryptocurrencies with freedom and independence, 22.9% with investment, and 21.9% with the opportunity to earn money quickly. Only 10.4% mainly associate them with risk or fraud.

The biggest obstacle to wider crypto use was a lack of knowledge, cited by 38.5% of respondents. Market risks and volatility followed at 27.1%. The risk of encountering fraud was considered far less important, at 6.3%.

As for what should change, expanding knowledge about the market ranked first at 28.1%. It was followed by clearer regulation at 18.8%, simpler user interfaces at 16.7%, stronger security at 15.6% and lower fees at 12.5%. At the same time, 29.2% said understandable regulation is one of the key factors that could accelerate market development.

Expectations for the next five years

Despite a cautious assessment of current market conditions, respondents remain notably optimistic about the future. Overall, 83.3% believe cryptocurrencies will become more widespread in Armenia over the next 3–5 years, while 89.6% say digital assets will fully or partly become part of the financial system of the future.

Looking five years ahead, respondents most often named payments as the area of broadest crypto adoption, at 34.4%. Savings followed at 28.1% and transfers at 16.7%. Meanwhile, 42.7% expect cryptocurrencies to become part of their everyday lives within that period.

Participants also see payments and transfers as the fastest-growing segment at 54.2%, alongside NFTs and metaverses at 42.7% and GameFi at 41.7%.

Kirill Khomyakov, Binance regional head, said Armenia is a market with strong interest in digital assets and their practical use. He said users care not only about investment opportunities, but also about convenient solutions for transfers, payments and savings, and that Binance will continue expanding access to its products and educational resources in the country.

The survey points to an Armenian crypto market that is moving beyond initial awareness toward more practical use of digital assets. At the same time, clearer regulation, stronger financial education and simpler user interfaces remain the factors respondents see as most important for the sector’s further development.
