Berkshire adds $17 billion to Alphabet stake

Berkshire's investment in Alphabet reaches $36.6 billion

Berkshire Hathaway added $17 billion of Alphabet shares in Q2, making it the company's third-largest investment:

The Q2 portfolio snapshot filed with the SEC reveals Berkshire owns nearly 106 million of Alphabet's Class A and Class C shares, currently valued at around $36.6 billion:

This puts it about $1.5 billion ahead of Coca-Cola's $35.1 billion but well behind Apple's $69.7 billion and American Express' $51.9 billion:

About 60% of the 48.1 million shares added during the quarter were purchased by Berkshire directly from Alphabet in a $10 billion private placement sale:

Berkshire also significantly increased its stake in Delta Air Lines by 44%, or roughly $1.6 billion:
