YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/ The interest rates of the banking system in Armenia are adjusting slowly despite the decrease in the monetary policy rate and short-term market rates. This is stated in the report of the Central Bank of Armenia on the implementation of the monetary policy program for the period from the third quarter of 2025 to the second quarter of 2026.
In the context of the slow adjustment of banking rates, the regulator notes that against the backdrop of high activity in certain segments of the economy, there has been sustained high demand for lending during the reporting period. This was particularly evident in the stable growth of consumer loans provided to households.
The growth rate of mortgage lending has somewhat slowed down due to a significant narrowing of the coverage of the income tax refund program, but it remains high.
The Central Bank of Armenia kept the refinancing rate unchanged at 6.5% for the sixth consecutive time on August 6. The lombard repo rate remained at 8%, while the resource attraction rate is 5%.
