According to Narek Karapetyan, the leader of the opposition faction "Strong Armenia", Baku must pay Yerevan for the construction of the power line. He emphasized that payment should be made not only for the power line but also for the railway and road infrastructure.
"This infrastructure should be a road, not a corridor, and the control over its safety and efficiency should lie with the Armenian side," Karapetyan noted.
He also commented on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's claims that Armenia will face a severe energy crisis after the closure of the nuclear power plant. In this regard, Karapetyan stated that Armenia has all the capabilities to build a new nuclear power station and to develop renewable energy sources.
